Cosee
0→1 Product Design, Branding & Product Strategy
Building a consumer SaaS product and brand from the ground up.
Cosee is a cross-platform, DTC subscription app that helps homeowners organize, plan, and collaborate on home and landscape projects. I was the only designer on the team, taking the product from an early concept through launch and continued iteration.
My Role
My Role: UX/UI Lead + Product Ownership
Scope: Brand, UX, UI, product strategy, discovery, prototyping, testing, design system, growth
Platforms: iOS, Android + desktop compatibility
As the only designer, I owned the experience from strategy through execution. I led discovery, user flows, UX/UI, prototyping, testing, design system development, and the complete brand identity. I also took on product ownership responsibilities, helping prioritize features, plan the roadmap, and work with engineering to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
The Challenge
Home-project information was scattered across camera rolls, texts, email, social media, and multiple apps. Homeowners and the professionals they worked with needed a single place to collect, organize, and share everything related to a project. The existing product also had significant bugs and usability issues that were causing users to abandon it. Falkon was brought in to rebuild the product and create a stronger foundation for growth.
Project Goals
- Improve organization capabilities and efficiency for the home project planning process
- Fix all existing bugs for a better user experience
- Maintain and grow user retention
- Rebrand with new name, logo, and design assets
Following several brainstorming and branding sessions, we arrived at the name Cosee, which stands for "capture, organize, share, everything, everywhere." The name has a dual meaning, representing a place where people can come and see everything they need, all in one place.
Branding
I developed the Cosee name, logo, visual identity, and product experience together so the brand and interface felt like one system.
The product's visual design intentionally stays minimal, using black, white, and gray so users' project imagery becomes the primary source of color. I also built a starter design system to support a consistent experience as the product evolved.
App and Website
Discovery & Product Strategy
I worked directly with the founder, users, and engineering team to identify pain points, test assumptions, define requirements, and prioritize the product roadmap. Discovery helped us focus the experience around the core jobs users needed to accomplish: capturing inspiration, organizing project information, building mood boards, and sharing everything with the people involved.
When Less Wasn't More
Our original onboarding was intentionally minimal. We wanted users to get into the product quickly, but testing showed that we had removed too much context. New users weren't always sure where to start or what they could do with the product. I redesigned the flow to provide more context and lightweight guidance, particularly around creating a first project and understanding the product's value. Early feedback showed improved engagement.
The takeaway: simplicity isn't always fewer steps. Sometimes the right amount of guidance is what makes an experience feel simple.
Designing for Growth
I worked beyond the interface to help shape how Cosee could grow as a subscription product. This included exploring free trials, promotions, feature opportunities, onboarding improvements, retention strategies, and conversion opportunities. This required balancing user value with business goals and working closely with the founder and engineering team to determine what was worth building and when.
The impact
- Took an early product from concept through launch and continued iteration
- Built the brand and product experience from the ground up
- Established a scalable design system across the product
- Redesigned onboarding based on user feedback and testing
- Helped shape subscription, retention, and conversion strategies
- Worked as the sole designer across strategy, research, UX, UI, brand, and product
