About Jenna

Work: 15+ years in design. Started in print. Moved through branding, art direction, strategy, events, RFPs, photography, UX, product,  communications, design leadership, creative operations, process improvement, speaking, and mentoring.

Life: I love collecting experiences. Good food, new places, art, music, travel, design meetups, a great glass of wine, and the occasional ridiculous pug event.

Dogs: My pug, Corbin Dallas (aka Bugs or Squeaker),  is my full-time  supervisor and LOML. He has a very specific set of opinions and  no interest in being left out of anything, so naturally, he isn’t.

What I believe

Good design isn't just decoration.

Sometimes the job is figuring out what the job actually is.

Being curious about other disciplines makes you better at your own.

A job title doesn’t determine what you’re capable of doing.

The person closest to the problem should be heard.

AI should make designers more capable, not less thoughtful.

Nonprofit Work

Nonprofit work has been a consistent part of my life and career. I’ve worked with organizations including AIGA Dallas, Dallas Firefighters Museum, and my work with DFW Pug Rescue has grown far beyond communications. I’ve worked on branding, creative direction, fundraising, content creation, photography, events, PR, partnerships, reporting, volunteer recruitment, and new program strategy.

I also foster pugs, so I’ve gotten to see the organization from both the operational work side and the very hands-on, always covered-in-dog-hair side.

How I use AI

I use AI as a working tool. I use Figma Make, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Firefly, and other tools to brainstorm, explore workflows, sum up research, work through requirements and edge cases, write, prototype, and test ideas quickly. Figma Make has become a useful way to turn an idea into something I can actually interact with instead of debating it in my head for hours.

I’ve also led AI discovery work with clients, helping identify where AI could improve a product or workflow, and where it shouldn’t be used. The tools are changing quickly, so I experiment a lot. My favorite part of design has always been knowing what to keep, what to question, and what actually makes the work better.

10+ Industries Worked In

I’ve always believed that knowing a little about a lot is a strength. Every industry, project, and discipline gives me another set of ideas and experiences to pull from, and I’m constantly finding connections between them. But I don’t believe expertise should come at the expense of curiosity. I’d rather listen to the people closest to the problem, understand what’s actually happening, and combine that insight with everything else I’ve learned. The industry may change. The fundamentals of good problem solving don’t. My strengths are industry-agnostic.
